J.A Feng's paintings provocatively convey the quintessence of the human experience: creation, decay and regeneration. Feng seamlessly interweaves these narratives of existence with tender, humorous, and vulnerable threads, culminating in microcosmic universes within her canvases. Initiating her paintings with rudimentary sketches or visual prompts, Feng embraces an open-ended approach, affording her the latitude to dictate the content and unique internal logic inherent to each piece. Her exploratory methodology facilitates the discovery and illustration of congruities between ostensibly disparate subject matter, yielding an intricate tapestry of literal and metaphorical parallels. Through the utilization of an additive process, Feng constructs and refines color and imagery in layers of paint, resulting in a final surface that manifests the temporal and energetic investments of her creative endeavor. The completed works oscillate between specificity and indeterminacy, inviting the viewer to embark on an introspective journey with each piece. Emotional narratives of transformation, vulnerability, and humor permeate Feng's canvases.
